Meditation Note via Sayadaw U Ottamasara teaching


– Meditation is the practice of mindfulness with right understanding
-Mindfulness should be not only ON something such as breathing or feeling or thought or pain etc, but also ON the knowing of meditation object and the action to be mindful.

-The knowing the meditation object appears on account of the action to be mindful.

– There are two groups in mental nature.
1) wrong understanding , attachment and action of them.
2) right understanding , detachment and action of them.

If you use the first group, you will pay attention to how to do, what to do, how long to do, where to do, this way and that way.

If you use the latter group,
you will pay attention to doing-only, experiencing-only and knowing-only (minding-only) which is middle way.
